sewing days

"Be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Joshua 22:5

I've been on a little bit of a sewing kick lately, which is good, as sometimes I get stuck in a rut when it comes to sewing. I have hundreds of ideas buzzing around in my head, but lack the motivation to actually make them happen.

Maybe all this productivity is because I'm so excited about using my new serger. But I'd really like to think that it's because I've become more industrious.  :)

I've been meaning to make a tunic style shirt for myself for a little while now, so this week, I sat down and actually made one. It's the first piece of clothing that I've made that I am 100% pleased with as far as the workmanship goes. It was such a sense of accomplishment when I finished and saw that there were no mistakes in it!

Granted the pattern needed some altering, as the fit was a bit looser than I had wanted, and the neckline lower than I had anticipated, but in the execution, I guess you would call it, of the pattern, I was satisfied.

And I really hope it doesn't sound like I'm boasting, because that's not the case at all! I know how much more I need to advance in my sewing skills, and I give all glory to God for what I have been able to accomplish so far, but it's exciting when you can see what you've created, "as good."

Mr. Rodger's shoes

(looking back on that caption, it sounds like I'm wearing Mr. Rodger's personal pair of shoes, but honest, I'm not! they just look alot like his. That's what I mean :D)

I've been eyeing shoes like these for awhile online, and yesterday when I popped into Target to grab a few things, I saw these guys on the shelf.

They're cute.

And I bought them.

But there's a war going on inside of me between my frugal self and my eco-friendly self.

Do I spend $9 on a pair of shoes that aren't the best choice in a "green" sense,

or

do I save my pennies and splurge on a good pair of shoes, that are healthy for me and the evironment.

And no, I'm not into the whole global warming thing and the like, but I do want to be a good steward of the earth as God has commanded us, and to make healthy choices for myself in what I buy...

but I have to say, though - they're really comfy.
