Asheville
We just got back from a lovely two day trip in the mountains. It was so great just to be able to take a short trip away from "normal" life and spend time together, see new places, eat at some yummy cafes, go camping, and enjoy Autumn.
Originally we had planned to go apple picking in the western part of the state, but after calling a ton a different organic orchards, I kept getting the same answer that it was a rotten year for apples, as I guess we had a late spring freeze which really affected the trees.
So last minute we ended up abandoning that plan, and just decided to spend the time camping out and visiting some of the neat places and shops in downtown Asheville.
I have to admit, I was totally thrilled that we were able to go camping, as it's been a little over 9 years since we last went!!! I had forgotten just how much I loved it, and was soaking up every minute we had out in the woods. I can't wait till the next trip!
One of my favorite shops downtown that we visited had to be Mast General Store. The building it was in was built in the 1940s and the whole store had a wonderful old-timey feel to it. I was going a little crazy over all the woolrich clothes that they sold, and all the awesome household goods, and ended up getting this button-up, and great hand-turned mug.
All around it was a swell trip, and I definitely have some good memories of our time together :) Check out my flickr page for a few more photos, if you'd like!
