This past week was a little crazy as I was in my sewing room for most of every day, trying to finish up a few projects before an event we had going on on Saturday.
Two weeks ago, Dad and I put our heads together and decided what kind of outfit he wanted, so I had a week to knock out a vest, and a shirt... and also a dress for myself, if I had time. I have learned that it is amazing what I can actually get done if I have a deadline set... I guess that doesn't say too much for my self-motivation, but it's the truth.
Before I had even finished the shirt, Dad was already raving about how much he loved it, and how it looked almost just like the Irish Grandad Shirts that he's been eyeing for awhile. He tried it on a day later after I had finished making it, and didn't take it off till evening time. Even now I have a few more yards of cloth sitting in my sewing room ready to be made into another shirt. Dad was so eager that he actually went and purchased some more cloth & some buttons for one! So all in all, I think he really likes it, which gives me a nice sense of satisfaction, knowing that he'll get alot of use out of it. :)
For me, I like the vest the most. I think it's because it took me so darn long to figure out how to make the welt pockets. I was on the verge of giving up making them and was just going to sew on two patch pockets, but a spirit of determination seized me, and I decided to give it a few more tries before I quit.
They're not perfect, and, as I found out after I had finished sewing it, I should have lined the pockets with the vest colour, so it blends in. But, regardless, I'm still pretty happy with them.
Lastly, here's the dress I was actually able to make. I stayed up till 3 a.m. Friday night finishing it, but I got it done.
For which I am very thankful :)
