homemade ornaments

I made up a batch of this homemade clay toady, and spent the afternoon cutting out Christmas ornaments! I know, Thanksgiving hasn't even passed yet, but I guess I'm just a little eager to start making all the lovely ideas I've seen floating around on the web for holiday decorations. :)

I plan on leaving most of them unpainted, as I really like the way they look just as they are, but I've cut out a few horse ornaments and will try my hand at painting them like the Swedish dala horses... though not as intricate, because I know my limits! If I can get them to generally look similar, then I'll be happy.

Also, I, thought it might be fun to make a sort of "gingerbread house," but out of clay, so I scaled down this diagram from Martha Stewart, and once the pieces are finished drying, will work on putting it together with some leftover clay I have. We'll see how it turns out!

We're heading up to New Jersey tomorrow to have a big get-together to celebrate Thanksgiving with some of my Dad's family, and will be staying overnight at my Uncle's farm in Pennsylvania, then heading back home Friday. Dad comes from a family of 7 kids, and five of them will be there... I don't remember the last time we've had this many of us all together!

I hope you folks have a lovely Thanksgiving!
